Biography
My name is Mark. I am a pianist, guitarist, singer, composer, songwriter, and audio engineer. I believe that music is an active discourse between composers, performers, and audiences. In all my musical endeavors, I aim to enrich that conversation with my unique voice, background, and perspectives.
I grew up in Northern New Mexico. At a young age, I was inspired to become a musician after seeing the movie La Bamba about the life of Richie Valens. Soon after, I began writing songs with my twin brother and playing piano, trombone, and guitar. Along the way, my musical journey has encompassed classical, rock, metal, jazz, and musical theater.
I hold a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, and a B.A. in Music from the University of Chicago. I also hold an AFA in Piano Performance and Music Technology from the City Colleges of Chicago.
I am a versatile instrumentalist, composer, songwriter, and producer. In bands, I’m at home at the keyboard, guitar, bass, or as lead singer. I compose music for theater, musicals, and film. I produce electronic music under the name Quest Seeker, and I am the leader of the Dead Superheroes Orchestra.
I have performed throughout the United States with rock bands and classical ensembles. As a singer, I have been soloist and chorister with the Lamont Chorale and Bella Voce in Chicago. I have been cantor, soloist, and chorister with the Cathedral Schola Cantorum at Holy Name Cathedral and Rockefeller Chapel Choir in Chicago. In 2023, I performed as soloist for Trotta’s Seven Last Words at New York’s Lincoln Center with DCINY.
